Revue Blanche & Katharina Smets + Chocolate Tasting
Friday october 31st
Especially for students who are joining Rubi on this evening, you can enjoy a delicious chocolate tasting workshop before the show!
Following the success of Misia, the golden combination of Revue Blanche and Katharina Smets returns with another magical-realistic journey through darkness and light, from farewell to new beginnings. Existential questions such as “How do you deal with the death of a loved one?” or “What does it mean to live on in the presence of absence?” form the beating heart of this performance, which is a cross between a concert, a radio play and a sound poem. The four virtuoso musicians and the audio artist explore the boundaries of genres and disciplines. Frederik Neyrinck wrote a tailor-made score for them, inspired by Monteverdi's L'Orfeo: the haunting opera epic in which the mythical bard's descent into the underworld turns out to be a metaphorical quest for loss and connection. In this poetic performance, whispering clouds of soprano, flute, viola and harp mingle with words about mourning, comfort and hope.
